Day 8: Today we watched this inspiring video about John Rowe Moyle. Amazing! It is about 15 minutes long, but well worth the time to understand what it means to Act and to be Acted upon as he faithfully served as a stone mason on the Salt Lake Temple. So many sacrifices were given while building those earlier temples. It makes me reflect on what I had to do to help build the Gilbert Temple. Sad to say nothing with how temples are built today other than sewing for a few hours in preparation for the Cultural Event that will happen before the dedication. I did think that one of the things I can do to help build the Temple is sharing this blog and continuing to work on finding my ancestors so that they too can share in the blessings that the temple offers.
I hope you enjoy the video below. After watching this video you should feel like you can do anything!
After the video, I thought it would be fun to have the kids do a little stone cutting like Brother John. Since I am all out of stone (hee hee) I thought I’d give them each a small block of wood, hammer and a nail. I told them that they could carve the name “God” out of the wood if they wanted too. They all thought that was a great idea. My 7 year old is STILL hammering away as I type up this blog. I think it has been about an hour already and he’s loving it! It was another great way to end the day on such an uplifting and positive message.
Today was Day 2 for me as a home schooling mom. I had felt pretty wiped out today. The kids have done really well, but with a baby still waking up every night and myself having a hard time going back to sleep it was a rough day physically. It was nice to end with an inspired story of courage and diligence to keep on going no matter what. I really have absolutely nothing to complain about. It is good to be reminded of what’s important and to just keep putting one foot in front of the other as we walk through this life trying to pattern it after the Savior. Enjoy this great video and have some fun “carving” something in honor of our God and King.
