Hours Of General Conference Can Be Difficult For The Little Ones… We Have The Answer & It’s FREE!

What does General Conference look like in your home? It doesn’t seem to matter how much planning and preparation is involved in the process, there will still be smiles and laughter, tears and anger!  Nothing new if you have little ones at home… right, I can’t be the only one??

This weekend will be a historic General Conference in more ways than one!  If celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the incredible event of the First Vision isn’t enough, we also find ourselves facing the coronavirus pandemic that is sweeping our nation and the world.  When the prophet said,

“General conference next April will be different from any previous conference. In the next six months, I hope that every member and every family will prepare for a unique conference that will commemorate the very foundations of the restored gospel.”

How true is that statement! If you were not sure if President Nelson was a prophet, recent events, to me, are a clear sign that he speaks as one called of God with power and authority to lead us to Christ. This will be a conference, not soon-to-be-forgotten that will go down in history for many years to come.

Yet, does historic mean that all of a sudden, our children will be angels and listen intently to Conference? I don’t think so. That is one of the reasons, I have spent so much time over the years trying to create a feeling in my home that will at least give me a better shot at creating an unforgettable Conference year after year. My children now look forward to conference weekend and it doesn’t surprise me when I hear my children ask me, “how many more days til Conference?” It happens every time. Just like Christmas is a time to celebrate the birth of Christ and prepare family traditions that will carry on throughout the years, Conference is a time to celebrate that God does speak to his children and continues to pour revelation upon us.  A time to celebrate? Oh, yea!

Because of school closures this year, the kids have already been staying at home for weeks and a long weekend with 8 hours of Conference might not be the easiest thing to pull off!  Yet, I know how much I am looking forward to the peace and power that I feel each Conference weekend that comes only twice a year.  We have also been given a special invitation, including children to learn about the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. My prayer is that my children might hear the voice of the Lord and come to know for themselves that:

  1. Jesus is the Christ.
  2. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God’s church restored to earth.
  3. Joseph Smith was a prophet of God.

As we teach correct principles of the gospel to our children no matter that our family life might not look like the one we had always dreamed it would be, we continue to plant seeds of faith. Our job is to teach and love, the Lord’s role is to touch the heart and enlighten the minds of our children.  What a powerful duo of strength! Mothers locking arms with the Savior! No virus, no obstacle, no struggle big or too small can break that link!

I hear you mamas, I know it isn’t always easy in fact it sometimes feels as if there are more heavy days than light ones, trust me I know!  I have 5 little ones at home from 4 to 16 years old that keep things entertaining at home while running a full-time home business. If you have followed me at all throughout the years, you know that this is one of my favorite times of the year. We gather each Conference to make Pizza, uncover what’s inside the speaker bags, cozy up in our own personal tents, play games while listening for keywords, and enjoy treats and so much more!  This year, I have been so busy for the last 7 months building an incredible online marketing system that will change the way families are able to become financially free that I haven’t had much time to plan this year’s Conference adventures.  Luckily, I have done the hard work throughout the last 8 years and can pick and choose which ones we will use this year.  Of course, I can’t help but add another idea to our bag of Conference tricks and tips and all these resources are available for you too!
