Summer Nutrition

Summer can mean a lot of barbecues and fair food, but it is possible to make healthy food choices if you put your mind to it!  For example, instead of buying that ice cream cone try putting a bag of fresh snap peas into your bag – that way it's ready when you have the urge to eat unhealthy.  Want something salty?  Those pretzels and trail mixes usually do the trick.  Instead of grabbing a bag of chips for the summer outing, grab a bag of dried apples or bananas.

Studies have shown that healthy snacking throughout the day can increase metabolism and give you the energy you need to feel good throughout the day – especially a long, sunny one.
