Easter Sunday

"Christ the Lord is Risen Today!"  That is the title of one of my favorite songs.  What a great day to reflect upon the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Although, we should think of him daily and learn of his teachings found in the scriptures, today is a great day to feast upon the spirit and feel the power of His love.  I was blessed to sing in the choir today and sing praises of Christ.  What a joy it is to share my feelings of the Savior through music.  The Mormon Tabernacle Choir just had a concert this past week and they performed the entire "Messiah."  If you haven't had a chance to watch it, it is fabulous!

Today, at church I wanted to do a fun little activity with my class about the resurrection.  I found a great idea to use a picture of the tomb and attach it to a paper plate.  I thought it would be fun to add a brad so that the rock in front of the tomb could open and then I cut up a small piece of linen and we glued it inside to represent the wrap that Christ was covered with.  The kids in my class that I teach at church who are 3 years old, had fun making these tombs to show that Christ has Risen.  Here is the coloring page to make the tomb.

Brightly Street Easter SundayAfter church the kids had fun today helping us prepare our Easter dinner.  It was great to spend time with our kids and to have everyone work together as we celebrated the life of Jesus Christ.  My oldest son made his first cake all by himself and it was delicious.  Here's some silly pictures from our not-so-formal Easter feast.  Our creative son thought the ham looked like the rock that was in front of the tomb so we made a tomb out of mashed potatoes.  Here's a picture with the "rock" rolled to the side.  We decided to make this a "Christ-centered" Easter day.  We'll do a simple easter egg scavenger hunt tomorrow for Family Home Evening.  I think it really helped to have the kids stay focused on the most important thing about Easter which is that Christ suffered and died for us and that he was resurrected almost 2000 years ago.  We too will one day be resurrected and reunited as a family forever.  I know that my Redeemer lives and that through His perfect love I can come to know and love him each day as I strive to be more like him.  I hope you had a great day feeling the love that the Savior of the world has for you!

Here's a great video about Jesus Christ through the eyes of one of his apostles named John.
