In this season of giving, we can see evidence of kindness, generosity and love. This December, we have been focusing on ways we can #LightTheWorld through service. We have also reflected on how we can help grow our own light from within so we have more to give to others.
Through this process and focus on service, we can sometimes become paralyzed with feelings of inadequacies… is my service enough? I don’t have time to give more… I just don’t understand why God doesn’t just step in and help…?
These questions can distract us from just doing something. We don’t need to save the world, but we can spread light and love within our homes, neighborhoods, friends and family members with a simple smile, hug, thought, words and love. Here is what some people have been up too around the world so far this month.
If you feel overwhelmed with your life and how you can possibly even squeeze in service towards others this Christmas season, take a moment and listen to this powerful song and then get up and “Do Something!”
Do Something
I woke up this morning
Saw a world full of trouble now, thought
How’d we ever get so far down, and
How’s it ever gonna turn around
So I turned my eyes to Heaven
I thought, “God, why don’t You do something?”
Well, I just couldn’t bear the thought of
People living in poverty
Children sold into slavery
The thought disgusted me
So, I shook my fist at Heaven
Said, “God, why don’t You do something?”
He said, “I did, yeah, I created you”
If not us, then who
If not me and you
Right now, it’s time for us to do something
If not now, then when
Find Your Miracle
I mentioned in a previous post about my own Light the World Christmas miracle. I quoted Jake Black in regards to the miracles that would happen as we serve others through sharing this message of service. The end of his quote is something that I want to share with you. He was now talking about you, not me, and how you can receive your own Christmas miracle. Jake said, “more importantly, you will start to see… personalized miracles in their (meaning YOU!) life.”
The windows of heaven will open and miracles will happen as we sacrifice our time, talents and resources in serve to others. I can’t wait to hear about your own Christmas miracles as you #LightTheWorld this Christmas season. Will you join me? Find daily service ideas here.
There is still time to “Do Something” this Christmas season to bless your own life as well as others.
